The good Cornellians can do: Bev Lamont ’64

Bev and her husband Jim Lamont have been collaborating in the role of Class Correspondent for the Class of 1964 for the past five decades.

Bev Lamont '64 has been connecting classmates from the Class of 1964 and sharing their stories for more than 50 years.

For all but the first column back in 1973, Bev’s husband Jim been collaborating with her to draft the column, which Bev then edits. Jim worked as a professional newspaper and wire service reporter, and he says he enjoyed contributing to the overall “literacy” of the column.

“My updates helped promote our class missions, particularly those related to our JFK Award,” Bev says. “Importantly, my work helped keep classmates ‘Linked-In’ to each other (for three decades before the platform launched in 2003).”

Bev says that this work has kept her abreast of the many ways her classmates contribute to their communities.

“I’m glad to be able to translate the value of a Cornell education for the continued benefit of the university and our Class,” she says.
