Cornell will honor the Cayuga Nation by naming one of the new North Campus residence hall buildings Ganędagǫ – meaning “hill” in the Gayogo̱ hó꞉nǫ' language. This is the ancestral name for the land upon which Cornell is built. Here, Native American ironworkers display a cloth image of the Hiawatha wampum belt, used to represent the sovereignty of the Six Nations of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy.
