Native American ironworkers display a cloth image of the Hiawatha wampum belt, used to represent the sovereignty of the Six Nations of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy.

Cornell will honor the Cayuga Nation by naming one of the new North Campus residence hall buildings Ganędagǫ – meaning “hill” in the Gayogo̱ hó꞉nǫ' language. This is the ancestral name for the land upon which Cornell is built.
