Georgia startup Hypercell Technologies won the $1-million grand prize in the 2023 Grow-NY business competition, administered by Cornell University’s Center for Regional Economic Advancement. Hypercell CEO and Co-Founder Bruno Jactel (left) said, “We’re excited to scale our business of rapid point-of-care diagnostics to improve the food chain in the Grow-NY region.”

In December, Kimberly Dowdell ’06 will become the first Black female president of the American Institute of Architects. According to the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards, only 1.8 percent of licensed architects in the U.S. are Black, and less than .05 percent of these architects are Black women.

Atlanta-based artist Nydia Blas was born and raised in Ithaca where members of her family have lived for more than 100 years. “Love, You Came from Greatness” is a new exhibit at the Johnson Museum of Art that portrays Black families in Ithaca.
