Cornell Cooperative Extension advises gardeners to leave fall leaves, rather than bagging them.

Enjoy the fall colors, but instead of bagging your leaves when they drop, Cornell Cooperative Extension advises us to let the leaves lie. Fall leaves can be raked into garden beds where they add nutrients to the soil and help suppress spring weeds.
