Ivy Iron Chef heats up at Reunion
Four teams of alumni home chefs competed in the Ivy Iron Chef Challenge at Reunion, hosted by the Cornell Asian Alumni Association (CAAA). Their mystery ingredient? Spam!
Competitors prepared their dishes in a Stocking Hall kitchen, while attendees watched via livestream and answered trivia questions to win Cornell swag. Jason Wang ’04, a runner-up on season eight of the show MasterChef, served as the event’s ‘kitchen correspondent’ and shared updates while the chefs worked.
After 45 minutes of cooking, three judges tasted all of the completed dishes—including fried rice, a quesadilla, ice cream with caramelized Spam, and more—in front of the live audience.
The winning team, Stark Li '19 and Emily Liu '84, prepared a stir fry that all of the judges raved about (complete with Cornell spelled out in Spam!).
