In honor of the 50th Earth Day in 2020, Cornell University Library curated an online exhibition, titled “Earth Thinking 1970 to Tomorrow.” According to the exhibit, 51 years ago today, on Earth Day 1970:

“An extensive program of workshops, films, and discussions filled campus on the 22nd, capping with a panel entitled ‘The Social, Economic, and Political Implications of the Environmental Crisis.’ The Cornell Environmental Action Committee didn't stage any demonstrations or cleanup activities, preferring to focus on the teaching aspect. That didn't, however, stop a graveyard of extinct species - including homo sapiens - from appearing on the arts quad, among other protests.”
