The native lawn at Cornell is dominated by two species of oat grass (Danthonia).

For the past 15 years, Cornell has been testing low-growing native plants that require minimal mowing to replace traditional lawns. Native lawns can help reduce gas, labor, and emissions associated with mowing, and provide habitat for native insects and other pollinators.
