With the help of Cornell crowdfunding, the Cornell Speech and Debate Society surpassed its $50,000 fundraising goal to raise $57,270. The group plans to utilize the funds to offset travel costs, create international partnerships, and continue their community service programs. The society was one of more than 50 student groups to participate in the November 2023 Cornell crowdfunding burst.
"The support I receive from the Cornell Speech and Debate Program cannot be overstated," says Spanish Debate Captain Amalia Schneider '24. "It has empowered me to find my voice and share the gift of debate with students across the globe, from India, to Vietnam, to New York. It is truly a life-changing program."
The Cornell Speech and Debate Program has trained many generations of phenomenal speakers and debaters, and with these skills, members give back to the world. Whether Speech and Debate members are working with the national prison debate league, or teaching students in Mysore, India and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, speech and debate enables students to build the more just and equitable world of tomorrow.
