The New York Times is partnering with the Cornell Lab of Ornithology to encourage readers to birdwatch this summer and share their observations. Over the past 20 years, Cornell's eBird project has collected observations from nearly 900,000 participants around the world. The project relies on volunteers, and newcomers to birding are encouraged to participate.
