The Cornell Society for the Humanities is hosting a community read of “The Gayogo̱hó꞉nǫɁ People in the Cayuga Lake Region” by Kurt Jordan, associate professor of anthropology. The book traces the history of the Gayogo̱hó꞉nǫɁ—also known as the Cayuga, a mispronunciation of the name by white settlers. According to the History Center in Tompkins County, “readers will think differently about ancient history, recent events, and the landscape of the region after reading this book.”
