Andrew Ross Sorkin ’99 delivers Olin Lecture
This year’s Olin Lecture featured a fireside chat between Andrew Ross Sorkin ’99, award-winning journalist and author, CNBC Squawk Box co-anchor, DealBook founder/editor, and co-creator of the Showtime series "Billions," and Dr. Samantha N. Sheppard, associate professor of cinema and media studies and chair of Cornell’s Department of Performing and Media Arts.
“Cornell played a huge role in my life,” Sorkin said. He spoke about his career and his time at Cornell, saying the university taught him that “persistence matters more than talent. Showing up is a huge part of everything.”
The Olin Lecture was established at Cornell in 1987 through a generous gift from the Spencer T. and Ann W. Olin Foundation.
