Alumni diversity leaders at the Botanic Gardens

During Reunion 2022, Matt Palumbo '83, president of the Cornell Asian Alumni Association, coordinated a meeting with fellow alumni diversity leaders and Cornell Botanic Gardens’ leadership team.

Kim Gillece '04, president of the Cornell University LGBTQIA+ Alumni Association, and Charles Stuppard '82, co-president of the Class of '82, and president, Cornell Military Network, vice chair, Cornell University Council, and director at large, Cornell Engineering Alumni Association, joined the meeting to discuss advancing Cornell Botanic Gardens’ mission of mission of conserving biological and cultural diversity, and cultivating the connection between plants and people.

The group set preliminary plans to engage more diverse alumni with the botanic gardens, both in-person and virtually, and ended by enjoying the two-story high mural “A Dança Da Natureza” (The Dance of Nature) by Brazilian street artist Eder Muniz.
