Join Gina Nichol (’82), founder and principal tour leader of Sunrise Birding LLC, for a unique chance to view migrating raptors as they pass over the Audubon Center’s Quaker Ridge Hawk Watch on their way to their winter destinations. Located at one of the highest points in Greenwich, CT, the Quaker Ridge Hawk Watch is an official raptor counting location for the Hawk Migration Association of North America’s national Hawk Count.
We’ll scan the skies for Bald Eagle, Peregrine Falcon, Northern Harrier, Sharp shinned Hawk, Cooper’s Hawk, Red-shouldered Hawk, Red-tailed Hawk and if we are lucky we may see Northern Goshawk, Rough-legged Hawk, Golden Eagle, or even a Swainson’s Hawk (a western rarity!) We’ll also take some time to get acquainted with the area and offer tips on identifying raptors and other birds that we see.
