SPEAKERS:
Brigitte Oviedo JD, CHE ’05, is the Head of Professional Development and a Licensed Associate Real Estate Broker at Cooper & Cooper Real Estate. A lifelong New Yorker, Brigitte was raised on Long Island and traveled upstate for school, earning her Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development at Cornell University. Brigitte went on to earn a Juris Doctor at Hofstra University School of Law, and is admitted in the State of New York (2009) and the US District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts (2009). Her interest in helping future fellow lawyers led her to Pieper Bar Review, where she assisted law students in their preparations for the New York Bar Exam. Brigitte also practiced law in-house before launching her career in residential real estate. After years of successfully brokering a wide range of rental and sales transactions throughout the City, she now serves as the firm’s Head of Professional Development.
Chase Wickenheiser CFP®, A&S ’19 & Football Alum, is a Financial Advisor with Magnus Financial Group. Chase partners with clients to help them organize their current financial picture, advance their future financial goals, and motivate them to continually achieve those goals. Chase has presented his financial fundamentals to sports teams and student groups across Cornell. He’s given over 6 webinars for the alumni community since 2023. Chase is one of the recipients of Cornell’s Robert S. Harrison ’76 Recent Alumni Achievement Award.
James Hegyi is the Director of Sales & Operations at Cooper & Cooper Real Estate. A 21-year residential real estate veteran, James oversees the Sales Division at the firm and is entrusted with fostering our client relationships. With a wealth of experience and market knowledge, James has handled thousands of sales and rental transactions in every price point. He has led operations in all facets of Cooper & Cooper including marketing, development, recruiting, new hire training and Cooper Cares. Over the years, he has distinguished himself as a passionate, honest and straightforward professional – held in high regard by his appreciative clients. Before his successful real estate career, James was involved in casting for Fox television shows and received numerous awards for his screenwriting. A native of New Jersey and a homeowner, James is a graduate of Boston University, with a major in Film and Television Production and a minor in International Relations.
Michael Tanney is a Senior Managing Director at Magnus Financial Group. His previous professional experience includes Goldman Sachs Private Wealth Management, where he advised Fortune 500 executives, government officials, multi-generational families, and endowments.
