Join us for docent led tours of Henry Flagler’s opulent home, Whitehall, and The Breakers Hotel in Palm Beach. The tours will explore the history and the architecture of Henry Flagler’s home and the storied resort. Each will be fully decorated for the Holidays.

On March 30, 1902, a story in the New York Herald described Whitehall, the Palm Beach home of Henry Flagler as, “More wonderful than any palace in Europe, grander and more magnificent than any other private dwelling in the world…” Flagler built the 75-room, 100,000-square-foot Gilded Age mansion, Whitehall, as a gift for his wife, Mary Lily Kenan Flagler. The couple used the home as a winter retreat from 1902 until Flagler’s death in 1913, establishing the Palm Beach season for the wealthy of the Gilded Age.

One of America’s most iconic resorts, The Breakers is an Italian Renaissance-style hotel situated on 140 acres of oceanfront property on the island of Palm Beach, Florida. Founded in 1896 by magnate Henry M. Flagler, and still in the hands of his heirs today, this legendary destination continues to thrive independent of chain affiliation. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places and recognized as a AAA Five Diamond property, The Breakers has also earned numerous accolades for its social impact on the environment, community and team member well-being. The Breakers has been recognized as one of the longest, continuously operating businesses in the state of Florida.

Our private docent led tour begins at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, December 10th, at the Flagler Museum, One Whitehall Way, Palm Beach, FL. The Whitehall tour takes approximately one hour. At 11:30 am, we’ll go to the Railcar No. 91® Tea Room, in the beautiful Flagler Kenan Pavilion, for a Gilded Age Afternoon Tea Service. After lunch, we will be transported from the Flagler Museum to The Breakers at 12:45 pm, with the Docent-led tour of the hotel from 1:00 to 1:45 pm, with transportation back to the Museum at 2:00 pm. After returning to Whitehall, you may independently tour the second floor of Whitehall and visit the H. M. Flagler and Co.® Museum Store until the Museum closes at 5 PM.

Space is extremely limited and is offered on a first paid-first served basis.
