FOMO ALERT: The small group size (12) is designed to optimize personal attention and instruction.

WHEN: Saturday, June 7 // 3pm – 5pm

WHERE: Springs Dance WEST at 4175 Centennial Blvd, 80907 // Colorado Springs, CO

WHAT: This unique experience will be hosted by Cornell aluma Andrea Cameron and feature an introduction to the beauty, pageantry and agility of aerial dance. Aerial silks blend performance, dance and acrobatics and is a format that has experienced rapid global growth. During this experience, participants will have an opportunity to learn the basics of this visually stunning art and fitness discipline. Aerial dance was first recognized in the United States in the 1970s and its captivating choreography allows performers to explore space in three dimensions.

WHY: Strength. Imagination. Vitality.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

  1. Our event contact noted that the silks class is pretty accessible, but she has noticed that people with very severe restrictions in hip mobility or difficulty balancing tend to have a hard time and not enjoy the experience as much.

  2. Guests must complete a waiver form before participating in class. Minors must have their waiver form signed by a parent or legal guardian. Waiver forms will be provided when you arrive for the event.

  3. Attire:

  • Wear leggings or athletic pants/joggers without zippers

  • Crop tops and shorts are not recommended in the silks due to friction from the silks

  • Remove any rings, watches, bracelets, anklets, long earrings and long necklaces before class

*A portion of proceeds from this event will go toward our continued enhancement of Cornell Club of Colorado programming and to ensure future events remain accessible to the diverse, vibrant, and curious 4,000+ Cornellians living in Colorado and that we can offer even more free and low-cost programming. As always, please feel free to reach out to Club President, Gary Schueller (schuellergp@gmail.com / 914.907.2169) or Club Vice President, Katherine Olaksen (kdo27@cornell.edu) with recommendations for programs, feedback, or to get more involved.
