This year's Big Red rite of spring featured ecstatic crowds, musical headliners, carnival games, food, fun—and friends

More than 16,000 students—plus a couple hundred alums—attended the annual celebration marking the end of classes. The Slope Day throngs rocked to the beat of two big-name musical acts: headliner A Boogie Wit da Hoodie and special guest Flo Rida.

In addition to the traditional music and socializing on the Slope, Cornell Dining served up tasty snacks, from pulled pork to tacos to vegan dogs. (And a beer truck was on site, serving suds to those of legal age.)

The occasion also featured Slope Fest, with carnival games, student bands, and other fun on Ho Plaza—plus Alternative Slope Day, offering free trips to (literally) learn the ropes at the Hoffman Challenge Course.

I fondly recall Slope Day on May 6, 1977 featuring Commander Cody & His Lost Planet Airmen. We were lost in the ozone again! And two days later, the Grateful Dead’s legendary performance at Barton Hall. It was quite a year.
