Suggest a story topic or alumni profile subject

Please submit suggestions to cornellians@cornell.edu. Summarize your idea in a few sentences and explain why you think it would be a good fit for Cornellians. We regret that we can only feature a small fraction of the many accomplishments of Big Red alumni with story and profile coverage, but topics not chosen will be considered for other appropriate sections.

Share your perspective with a personal essay in ‘Chime In’

“Chime In” is a venue for brief first-person essays by members of the Cornell community on a variety of topics. Do you have an idea for an essay of 500–800 words—about your time on the Hill, a memorable experience as an alum, or some other aspect of daily life, family, work, and more? Email us at cornellians@cornell.edu. Please note that if selected, contributors will be asked to provide images to accompany their essays; topics not chosen can be forwarded to Class Notes for mention in a future column.

Suggest a topic for ‘Ask the Expert’ or ‘6 Questions For …’

Cornell has a wealth of expertise among its faculty and alumni. Is there a topic you’d like us to address in one of our sections that offer expert advice and insights? Email us at cornellians@cornell.edu.

Pitch a story for ‘Bear Hugs’

“Bear Hugs” celebrates heartwarming stories, tales of alumni connection, and more. Do you have an idea that showcases Cornellians helping Cornellians, Big Red ties across generations, or a similarly feel-good topic? Email us at cornellians@cornell.edu. Topics not chosen can be forwarded to Class Notes for mention in a future column.

Suggest a theme for a crossword puzzle or trivia quiz

Our quizzes and puzzles take a lighthearted approach to sharing knowledge about Big Red alumni, history, and traditions. If you have an idea for one—or if you’re interested in becoming one of our alumni crossword makers!—email us at cornellians@cornell.edu.

Submit your book for inclusion in our monthly section

To submit your book for consideration, email cornellians@cornell.edu. Please note that to be included in our listings of new titles, books must be recently published by a conventional publisher—not self published, pay-to-publish, publish on demand, or similar—and be of interest to a general audience. Books not featured will be forwarded to Class Notes.

Share your news with your classmates in Class Notes

Written by your class correspondents, Class Notes are your opportunity to connect with your class and share news. Did you get married, have a baby, or welcome a grandchild? Have you marked a career milestone or taken a trip? Do you have a Big Red memory that would make your classmates smile? Submit your news via the online form, or write to your correspondent using the contact info at the end of each column.

Place a free ad in our Classifieds marketplace

Cornellians Classifieds is a free marketplace for Big Red alumni to support each other and find great products and services. To submit an ad, please fill out the form. (As more ads are published, more specific categories will be added to the drop-down menu.) Ads are reviewed prior to publication and must adhere to our Terms and Conditions. Ads expire after 180 days, but may be resubmitted. If you would like your current ad to be updated or removed, please email us.

Submit your online store for inclusion in our annual Holiday Marketplace

In 2024, Cornellians launched a seasonal online shopping guide aimed at showcasing alumni business while giving fellow Cornellians great holiday gift ideas. If you’d like your store to be included in the next guide, email cornellians@cornell.edu. Please note that to qualify, businesses must offer items suitable for gift-giving and ship nationally or internationally.

Notify the University of an alumni death

Please submit notification—including an obituary, if possible—to the University at cubio-deceased@cornell.edu. Once the University records an alumni death in its database, the relevant information is forwarded to Cornellians for inclusion in a future In Memoriam section. The section is updated on the first of each month, and deaths are generally listed three to four months after the University receives notice. For questions, please contact Alexandra Bond ’12 at abb83@cornell.edu.
