The Cornell Club of Maryland is eager to read one of Oprah Daily’s Best Books of February! Our novel for May promises to evoke love, frustration, and hope months after this spotlight, during our virtual discussion at 7pm EST on 5/19/2025.
 
Joined by its author, Olufunke Grace Bankole, ’01, Big Red Bookcase will discuss debut novel, The Edge of Water.

Set between Nigeria and New Orleans, The Edge of Water tells the story of a young woman who dreams of life in America while juggling the demands of tradition, prophecy, and longing. What’s more, she is placed in the midst of a devastating storm.

As always, we look forward to a thoughtful and engaging discussion as we navigate the challenging themes woven into the novel.
 
CCMD members as well as friends and family are invited to participate in the meeting — even if there hasn’t been time to finish reading the novel!
