Future of Broadcast Media: Where Do We Go From Here?

Bring your guests and join us on Wednesday, Aug. 16th for a view from the trenches along the embattled broadcast front. John Fink is General Manager of KFVE and a gifted observer of the local and national television scene. If anyone can tell us what’s going on with the old and the new media, it’s John!

John has been involved in media in Hawaii for over four decades now. He has been at the helm of KFVE- TV since 1986, and also ran KHNL- TV (NBC in Hawaii) along with KFVE- TV from 1996-2009.

He began his media career with a short stint in public relations for a local pro soccer team (Team Hawaii in the North American Soccer League), and then spent four years at radio stations KIKI/KMAI as Sales Manager and Music Director. After a four-year sales stint at KGMB (CBS in Hawaii) he moved over to KHNL (which began its partnership with KFVE in 1993).

John is a graduate of Wesleyan, where he received a bachelor’s degree in East Asian History. Alongside work, he is currently active on over dozen local non-profit boards, including Big Brothers/Big Sisters Hawaii, the (Aloha) Stadium Authority, Aloha Festivals, the Hawaii Bowl, the Hawaii Association of Broadcasters, the Diamondhead Classic, St. Francis Healthcare System, and the Hawaii Council on Economic Education.

I think we’re in for a great presentation, and some astute predictions.
