After a month of searching on a remote island off the coast of Papua New Guinea, a Cornell-led team filmed a Black-naped Pheasant-Pigeon, a species that hasn’t been documented by scientists since it was first described in 1882. The team worked closely with Indigenous community members, who recognized the species and referred to it by the name Auwo.
