Throughout China’s history, Imperial cuisine was reserved for Emperors, their wives, and their concubines. Using their supreme power and wealth, Emperors could call upon the best cooks of their day to create dishes just for them. Imperial food therefore represented a dynasty’s best cuisine.

Since the time of the last Emperor, Pu Yi, much of this cuisine has been lost. Chef and owner of Friendship Chinese Restaurant, Alan Yuen, has researched and revitalized Imperial cuisine with this Imperial Banquet offering for Cornell.

Savor eight courses of this lost cuisine, paired with wines, and served in his Red Lantern private dining space. (Planned menu is attached.) This special space is small: there are only 16 open spots, so confirm early to avoid disappointment.

8 Courses, with paired wines
$88.88 per person, everything included
