Come explore the great outdoors and enjoy nature at its best.
Please meet at the Bear Mountain Inn parking lot at 2 PM. From the lot, you will be shuttled to the top of the mountain to begin a two mile hike down the Appalachian Trail to the base where the Inn is located. At the top, there is a short, accessible trail to a northern lookout for some great photo opportunities. For this hike, we advise that you wear shoes suitable for hiking, bring plenty of water and snacks and just in case, rain gear. Afterwards, our hike leader, Larry Luxenberg, will give a talk on the Appalachian Trail and its start in Rockland County. Please join us for dinner at the Inn where he will talk about the trail. Larry hiked the trail end to end in 1980 and is the author of Walking the Appalachian Trail and President of the Appalachian Trail Museum in Gardners, PA.
Please note: Parking at Bear Mountain is $10 per vehicle and all attendees will be responsible for the cost of their own dinner. For additional information contact Larry at luxenberg@lexingtonave.com
