Start the New Year off right – help those in need in Westchester County! 

As part of Cornell Cares Day 2018, we will partner with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Westchester and The Center for the Urban River (CURB) at Beczak. 

ACTIVITIES 
Come in for a day of fun alongside the Hudson River! In teams, we’ll enjoy environmentally friendly group activities with local children from the Big Brothers Big Sisters middle school and the CURB programs. Sit by the toasty fireplace for activities including games, crafts, trivia, and a special Hudson River Animal Show and Tell. Participants will receive nature-themed take-home crafts!

All activities will be indoors.

RSVP IS REQUIRED, Snacks and lunch provided. 

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Alumni, students, family, friends & children age 9+ are welcome to attend. Spaces are limited and filled on a first come, first served basis when you RSVP by January 2, 2017. Please also specify your name, year of graduation/ school and your child or guest’s age. (Children & teenagers under 16 Y/O must be accompanied by a parent).

BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS – Part of Family Services of Westchester, started over 100 years ago in New York City. Big Brothers Big Sisters is the oldest and largest youth mentoring program in the United States, matching caring volunteers with children in one-to-one mentoring relationships. 

Currently, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Family Services of Westchester serves hundreds of children aged 7-17 throughout Westchester County. They are actively seeking mentors for many children on the wait-list. There are nearly 400 Big Brothers Big Sisters agencies across the country and more than 275,000 volunteer “Bigs”. 

Family Services of Westchester (FSW), Inc., founded in 1954, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing Westchester County with a broad range of social and mental health services that strengthen and support families, children, and individuals of every stage of the life cycle.”

CURB | CENTER FOR THE URBAN RIVER AT BECZAK 

Launched June 2013, the Center for the Urban River at Beczak (CURB) is an alliance of Sarah Lawrence College and the Hudson River Valley Environmental Education Institute. The mission of CURB is to advance environmental knowledge and stewardship by providing high quality K-12 environmental education for the local community, establishing a regional hub for research and monitoring focused on Hudson River estuary and urban watershed issues, and serving as a welcoming open community space for a variety of civic and cultural activities.
