THE SUNDAY STANDARDJAZZ @ CITY PARK

Cornell Club x Cornell Hotel Society Picnic

Cornellians, get a blanket and a basket ready. We’re collaborating with our friends at the Cornell Hotel Society and creating a dreamy Sunday in Denver’s majestic City Park. Join us as for an evening of live jazz featuring a quintet with members from the iconic band Lettuce, picnic spreads, and the kind of slow summer hours Denver was made for. It’s the inaugural outing of The Sunday Standard — our new jewel series built around the city’s most enduring summer rituals — and there’s nowhere better to begin than the 40th anniversary season of City Park Jazz.

WHAT: A Cornell Club picnic and concert at City Park Jazz, Denver’s beloved free outdoor concert series — now in its 40th year. Sunday, July 12 features BTTRFLY on the bandstand. This dazzling jazz collaborative just performed on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.” Bring a blanket, a picnic (or graze the food trucks), and settle in for two hours of music with Cornellians from across the Front Range.
This year carries extra weight: in March, the historic 1929 bandshell was lost to a fire. CPJ is back this summer on a rented mobile stage — a quiet act of stubborn community resilience that’s worth showing up to support

WHEN: Sunday, July 12, 2026, 4:30 PM — Cornell Club blankets go down
6:00–8:00 PM — Concert

WHERE: City Park Pavilion & Bandstand, Ferril Lake, City Park, Denver, CO
Cornell Club gathering point: We’ll stake out a spot on the lawn near the Pavilion. Watch for Big Red signage.
