Recovery and excavation of the Pirate Ship Whydah has been ongoing since the ship was disovered by Barry Clifford in 1984. Cornell Club members and friends will receive a private lecture from “Pirate” Fred Carpenter, a favorite speaker and tour guide, about the “Golden Age” of Pirates of the Colonial-era. The lecture is on the premises in the Green House, followed by an exclusive self-guided tour of the Whydah Pirate Museum. The Whydah Gally, captained by the pirate Samuel “Black Sam” Bellamy, went down in a violent storm on April 26, 1717 off the coast of what is now Marconi Beach in Wellfleet. The Whydah is the only fully verified and authenticated pirate shipwreck of the Golden Age of Piracy ever discovered in the world!
The lecture is FREE, however, a ticket to the Museum must be purchased at the door at the Group rate of $14 per person.
