Start the New Year off by helping your Westchester County neighbors! As part of Cornell Cares Day 2026, we will partner with our friends at The Sharing Shelf from 10am to 1pm on Saturday, January 10, 2026. 

Participation is limited to those above age 14.

THE NEED: 
Westchester County, NY, home to some of the wealthiest families in the nation, is also home to nearly 60,000 children living in low-income homes. The Sharing Shelf facilitates a connection between these communities.

THE SHARING SHELF: 
The Sharing Shelf collects new and gently used clothing for infants, children and teens (ages birth to 19yrs). The clothing is sorted then distributed to children in need. Each child receives outfits coordinated to supply them with a week’s worth of clothing.

WHAT CAAW WILL DO: 
We will help sort and organize donations of new and gently used clothing, shoes and coats to benefit The Sharing Shelf’s clients. Please donate any of the following: 1- a pair of new sneakers for teens (youth or adults size) as part of the January sneaker drive (sneakers will also be available for purchase at event), 2- new Diaper donations (size 5)

WHEN: Saturday, January 10, 2026

TIME:10:00 a.m. SHARP – 1:00 p.m. 

WHERE: The Sharing Shelf: 47 Purdy Ave, Port Chester, NY 10573 

Limited free parking on premises (carpooling is recommended)

SNACKS PROVIDED 

RSVP IS REQUIRED, WALK-INS NOT AVAILABLE
Alumni, students, family, friends & children age 14+ are welcome to attend. Spaces are limited and filled on a first come, first served basis when you register by January 6, 2020. Children under 18 must be accompanied by a parent. 

REGISTER (3 steps):
1- complete CAAW registration

ADDITIONAL DETAILS:
– Dress comfortably, including closed toe shoes, for extended periods of standing
– Latex gloves will be supplied for those who wish to use them
– Please do not attend if you are experiencing any cold symptoms or taking any fever reducing medication 
– Activities will begin promptly at 10 am
