Event Details

Join Cornell Club of Delhi on Sunday, February 1, for a day of hands-on volunteering at The Community Library Project (TCLP) in Delhi. Bring your Big-Red spirit and make a difference with fellow alumni.

TCLP is building a robust and free library network in Delhi & NCR that allows individuals to borrow books at no cost. At the center is the idea that “Reading Is Thinking”; that everyone, regardless of their social or economic background, has the right to books and other tools of learning. Today, TCLP has set up 3 libraries in Delhi & Gurugram, catering to a membership of over 6000 children & youth, 7 days a week. TCLP libraries are meaningfully-designed, low-cost spaces with a  regularly updated collection of books in Hindi, English, Urdu, Bengali and more. TCLP libraries are intentionally situated in and around underserved communities, where they also serve as inclusive hubs for early learning, arts and cultural programmes with members. What activities will we be doing: Shelving and organizing books, basic mending and repairing of books, and helping keep the library collection neat and accessible. Setting-up thematic book corners, refreshing displays, creating inviting reading and poetry nooks across the space for children and youth, who are mostly first-generation readers.

Please read the instructions below as you register. Registration will stay open till seats last. Hope to see you there.
