The good Cornellians can do: Jennifer Johnson Millones ’92

About ten years ago, Jennifer Millones '92 reached a turning point in her career. She had spent several years working as an attorney in the beverage-alcohol industry. She had paid off her student loans and was looking for a new direction.

During a family trip to San Francisco, she received a phone call from a colleague who invited her to apply for a position as the Jennifer Millones with Newman O's cookiesfirst chief legal counsel for Newman’s Own Foundation. The foundation receives 100% of the profits from the sales of Newman’s own branded products, like these Newman O’s. All proceeds received by the foundation benefit children facing adversity.

“That call felt like everything I’d been searching for suddenly aligned,” Jennifer says. “We make food people love, and the profits help children who need it most. Eating a cookie that helps children facing adversity feels like the world’s easiest win-win.”

Since its founding, Newman’s Own Foundation has given away more than $600 million to help change children’s lives.

Through her work at the foundation, Jennifer has volunteered a Horizons at New Canaan Country School, an organization offering academic and enrichment programs for students from under-resourced communities. She’s supported Filling in the Blanks, which provides weekend meals to children facing food insecurity. And she’s volunteered at The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, a camp Paul Newman founded for children with serious illnesses.

“Being on site, seeing the courage of these kids, hearing their laughter—it grounds everything I do in the office,” she says.
