The Cornell Club of Maryland will get to know the winner of the Orange Prize for Fiction in 2011! Closing out 2025 with a Goodreads Choice Award holder, CCMD will read The Tiger’s Wife, a debut novel ripe with secrets and superstitions, for December’s Big Red Bookcase. On December 4, we will be joined by author Téa Obreht, MFA Class of 2009 in a thoughtful and engaging discussion.

Set in an unnamed Balkan country, The Tiger’s Wife offers a glimpse into young doctor Natalia’s search for answers in the aftermath of her grandfather’s mysterious death, amidst floating superstitions, stories of “the deathless man,” and secrets that line the very fabric of her routine.

CCMD members as well as friends and family are invited to participate in the meeting — even if there hasn’t been time to finish reading!
