The good Cornellians can do: Leslie Lewit Milner ’79
Leslie is proud of the small acts she does to help others, what she calls “doing a little bit of good here and there.”
Leslie lives in Roslyn, New York, an eastern suburb of New York City. There, she runs a book club for her temple, “Sinai Reads.” She also caters meals for a group of 45 women, who meet regularly to socialize and help their neighbors. The group donates funds to help community members age in place, and they donate clothes and provisions to at-risk elders.
Leslie enjoys taking late-night walks around her neighborhood. On these outings, she often finds treasures amongst the rubbish set out by the road for collection. She enjoys rescuing useable items and donating them to a local charity.
“I believe that so much of this good stuff should be donated and not thrown away,” Leslie says. “I’ll run home and get my SUV, pick up the item, and make sure it’s donated. It makes me happy, thinking that somewhere there’s a kid who’s going to love this item!”
