SUMMARY:The 2026 International Spirit of Zinck's Night in Berlin
DESCRIPTION:Join the Cornell Club of Germany—Berlin Chapter for a warm evening of good food and great company as we take part in International Zinck’s Night: the beloved Cornell tradition where alumni chapters around the world gather on the same night to toast our shared history and the friendships that started on the Hill. \n📅 When: Thursday\, October 15 at 19:00\n📠Where: Schnitzelei Mitte: Chausseestraße 8 (Hinterhof\, also reachable via Novalisstraße 11)\, 10115 Berlin\nðŸ½ï¸ What: A relaxed dinner featuring classic German fare\, in true Zinck’s Night spirit\n🥂 Why: Because wherever we’ve landed since graduation\, we’re still part of the same community. That’s worth celebrating together. \nWhether you’re a recent graduate or have been out of Ithaca for decades\, this is a chance to reconnect with fellow Cornellians here in Berlin\, swap stories about campus and beyond\, and share a toast in honor of Cornell traditions old and new. Vegan\, vegetarian\, and nonalcoholic options are available. Families are welcome. \nWe hope you’ll join us for an evening of connection\, good conversation\, and Big Red pride. \nProst\, and go Big Red! \nOrganized by Jennifer Williams and Ben Kennet\n \nTHE HISTORY BEHIND THE INTERNATIONAL SPIRIT OF ZINCK’S NIGHT. HOW IT ALL BEGAN. \n \n“We’ll all have drinks at Theodore Zinck’s\, when I get back next fall!†goes “Give My Regards to Davy\,†the timeless Cornell fighting song. But just who exactly is Theodore Zinck?  \nTheodore Zinck was an Ithaca saloon owner whose pub\, the Hotel Brunswick\, was a popular haunt for Cornellians in the 1890s. When he died in 1903\, a series of bars on and around Collegetown adopted his name over the years. The last one closed in the 1960s\, and Cornellians started commemorating the spirit of Zinck’s Night by gathering at an establishment on a Thursday night\, once a year. This tradition of undergraduates coming together to enjoy camaraderie and refreshments has grown into a gathering for Cornellians of all stripes everywhere.
