SUMMARY:The 2026 International Spirit of Zinck's Night in Austria
DESCRIPTION:Join Cornell alumni\, family\, and friends in Vienna for Zinck’s Night at Das Biero\, in the heart of the 8th district. \nThis longstanding Cornell tradition is an opportunity to come together\, reconnect with familiar faces\, welcome new ones\, and spend time in community with fellow Cornellians in Austria. \nWe hope you’ll join us for a warm and informal evening of conversation\, connection\, and shared Cornell spirit. \nDATE: Thursday\, October 15\, 2026\nTIME: 19:00 local time\nLOCATION: Das Biero\, Florianigasse 46\, 1080 Wien\nQUESTIONS: Contact Irena Ashcraft at irenaashcraft@gmail.com. \nTHE HISTORY BEHIND THE INTERNATIONAL SPIRIT OF ZINCK’S NIGHT. HOW IT ALL BEGAN.  \n“We’ll all have drinks at Theodore Zinck’s\, when I get back next fall!†goes “Give My Regards to Davy\,†the timeless Cornell fighting song. But just who exactly is Theodore Zinck?  \nTheodore Zinck was an Ithaca saloon owner whose pub\, the Hotel Brunswick\, was a popular haunt for Cornellians in the 1890s. When he died in 1903\, a series of bars on and around Collegetown adopted his name over the years. The last one closed in the 1960s\, and Cornellians started commemorating the spirit of Zinck’s Night by gathering at an establishment on a Thursday night\, once a year. This tradition of undergraduates coming together to enjoy camaraderie and refreshments has grown into a gathering for Cornellians of all stripes everywhere.
