DESCRIPTION:It’s that time of the year! Time to gather for the Annual International Spirit of Zinck’s Night! \nCapture the BIG RED spirit of the HILL Thursday\, October 16th by attending this year’s Spirit of Zinck’s event in MADRID! \nAlumni will celebrate this uniquely Cornell event in cities around the world. So wherever you are\, remember your days at Cornell on October 16th. If in Madrid\, join us in celebrating Zinck’s Night with your Cornellians in Spain friends. \nDATE: Thursday\, October 16\, 2025\nTIME: 19:00 – 21:00 Madrid Time\nLOCATION: The Pel Place. Pl. de San Juan de la Cruz\, 3\, Chamberí\, 28003 Madrid\nCOST: Cash bar\, pay as you order\nQUESTIONS: Contact Maria Garcia Nielsen at mariagarcianielsen@gmail.com \nTHE HISTORY BEHIND THE INTERNATIONAL SPIRIT OF ZINCK’S NIGHT. HOW IT ALL BEGAN.  \n“We’ll all have drinks at Theodore Zinck’s\, when I get back next fall!” goes “Give My Regards to Davy\,” the timeless Cornell fighting song. But just who exactly is Theodore Zinck?  \nTheodore Zinck was an Ithaca saloon owner whose pub\, the Hotel Brunswick\, was a popular haunt for Cornellians in the 1890s. When he died in 1903\, a series of bars on and around Collegetown adopted his name over the years. The last one closed in the 1960s\, and Cornellians started commemorating the spirit of Zinck’s Night by gathering at an establishment on a Thursday night\, once a year.
