SUMMARY:Cornell Picnic in the Park
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate the fall season with NYC Cornellians! \nOn Sunday\, October 19th from 12:00-3:30pm alumni of all ages\, parents\, students\, family and friends are invited to enjoy an afternoon in Riverside Park as we turn the South Lawn red with a bring your own picnic gathering (and if you don’t feel like bringing food\, you can pick it up at plenty of nearby restaurants/supermarkets- see below). \nWe’ll provide spike ball\, frisbee golf and other activities as well as a Cornell trivia contest\, poster making to cheer on the Cornell NYC Marathon team and a narrated tour along the Hudson River. Something fun for everyone. \nSo come on out and enjoy the afternoon with the Cornell community. Everyone is welcome. \nEvent Details:\nDate: Sunday\, October 19\, 2025\nTime: 12:00–3:30 P.M.\nLocation: Riverside Park: South Lawn-74th St (see map below)\nWeather: In the event of steady rain\, this event will be canceled. \nDo’s and Don’ts (Park Rules):\n \n\nDon’t bring alcoholic beverages\, tents/canopies (or anything that needs to be staked into the ground)\, and BBQ equipment per NYC park rules.\nDo bring your dog – but make sure they are on a leash less than six feet long – also have proof of dog license and rabies vaccination just in case.\nDo bring water\, food and your favorite park games!\nDo enjoy the weather\, park amenities\, the playground\, and the Cornell NYC community!\n\n\nWays to get There:\n \n\nEntrance is on 74th and RSD – the south lawn.  Only a few blocks from a major NYC subway station and multiple bus stops.\nThe 1\, 2\, and 3 trains as well as M104\, M7\, M11\, M57 stop at 72 Street/Broadway \nThe M5 bus provides the most direct access stopping at 73rd/Riverside Drive \n\nFood Nearby:\n \n\nFairway (74th & Bway)\nTrader Joe’s (72nd & Bway)\nCitarella’s (75th & Bway)\nH Mart (70th & Amsterdam)\nGiacomo Fine Foods (72nd & West End)\nHummus Place (74th & Amsterdam)\nMorton Williams (69th & Bway)\nChipotle (73rd & Amsterdam)\nMade in NY Pizza (73rd & Amsterdam)\nKossar’s Bagels (72nd & West End)\nPier 1 Cafe (500 W 70th Street)\nJubilee Market Place (180 Riverside Blvd)\n\n\nOther Info: Bathrooms available in the Neufeld Playground (very near to the event space) \nEvent Questions? There are basketball courts right next to our space for more team oriented athletics.\n\n•	Runner’s Corner & Poster Making –  Meet some of the NYC Cornellian’s marathon runners and create cheer posters for for them in November!\n\n•	Riverside Park South – Hudson River Tour – Join a narrated tour along the Hudson River (59th St and 72nd St) to learn more about all of the real estate and parkland development\n\n•	Picket Blanket Activities – Participate in a Cornell trivia contest. We’ll also have card games and you can bring your own board games for more fun.\n\n•	Playgrounds & Dog Runs – Bring your kids and furry friends along.  There are nearby dog runs (separate for small dogs and large dogs) and the Neufeld (Elephant) Playground .
