SUMMARY:Cornell Cares at The Beacon - October 2026
DESCRIPTION:The Beacon is a local\, non-profit\, homeless services organization which provides daily services plus legal aid and counseling to help end homelessness in our city. \nThis year we will be hosting a toiletry drive to benefit The Beacon\, culminating at this hands-on volunteer event where we will be helping break down bulk toiletry items into individual-use containers. This is a vital service for The Beacon’s clients: with 4 private shower cabins offering an average of 75 showers per day\, 5 days a week\, having ready-to-use toiletries makes a real difference in clients’ daily routines.  \nIn order to be as efficient as possible\, The Beacon suggested we purchase the “bulk” hygiene items (and bring them with us).  We will portion out these items into 2 oz containers for any clients who are showering so they can select exactly which toiletry they need.   \nAdditional information regarding what/how to purchase items (so we have a variety)\, along with directions\, parking\, etc. will be provided once we receive your RSVP. The group is limited to 20 people\, ages 13+\, so RSVP ASAP to secure your spot!  \nAs with all our volunteer events\, our shift will be followed by lunch.  \nEven if you can’t join us on October 3\, feel free to help The Beacon by purchasing items from either of their wishlists \nhttps://www.amazon.com/registries/gl/guest-view/9XS5KAIA22RT?ref_=cm_sw_r_cp_ud_ggr-subnav-share_YJ43BNAA7CD85KCKZCGP or \nhttps://www.amazon.com/registries/gl/guest-view/3ING643YGACYW?fbclid=IwY2xjawE11p9leHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHWL4i98c9JEY0HX3Uxo6HBrCQzyAWUhWDqEniXKZ8311-_rn6JQelJyL0w_aem_Tja9xvwBanRFV1uom8mErQ.   \nRight now the items that have the greatest need are:  \nToothbrushes | New socks/underwear | Bath towels/hand towels | Scrubs size M (or up) \nEvent Questions?
