SUMMARY:Central Park Trees Uncovered - 10.25.26 - Session 2 @ 2:00 PM

Join Dendro Lab NYC founder\, Carey Russell on Sunday\, October 25th for one or both of two fascinating walks through the park to learn about different species – not only how to identify them\, but also their local history in the park and their interrelationships with the surrounding ecosystem. Each species comes from a distinct and much older lineage of trees than their “newcomer“ counterpart\, the deciduous broadleaf trees. You may know of evergreens like pine\, spruce\, fir\, and hemlock. Now’s the time to learn how to easily tell them apart and about their history in the park. This is one of Carey’s most popular tree walks and will give you lots to talk about at the end of the year as Christmas trees adorn New York City’s streets.  \nLunch: Le Pain Quotidien by Sheep Meadow (12:30pm – 2:00pm) \nIf you have any questions or want to continue conversations from the tour\, Carey will be available in between sessions for an informal discussion about trees. We’ll having lunch (not included in the ticket price) at Le Pain Quotidien by Sheep Meadow from 12:30pm – 2:00pm – feel free to stay on from the morning session or join before the afternoon session. \n

SUMMARY:Cornell's 2026 NYC Marathon Volunteer Day!
DESCRIPTION:Event Information:\nNYC Cornellians is organizing support for fluid stations at Mile 13 in Greenpoint\, Brooklyn and at Mile 15 on the Queensboro Bridge for the shifts from 11:00am – 4:45pm. While there are 30+ openings at the time of this announcement\, spaces do fill up quickly and it’s always better to sign up early rather than to wait until later. \nVolunteer Responsibilities:\nWhat do volunteers do? They help manage fluid stations – filling cups with water/Gatorade\, handing them to the runners as they go by\, and sweeping the discarded cups from the roadway.  Most importantly\, volunteers cheer for runners and give encouragements as they go by.  Shifts are usually 4-5 hours long. You can take breaks as needed and snacks are provided by NY Road Runners.  Volunteers also receive a commemorative thank you gift from NYRR for their efforts. Children of volunteers over the age of 13 may also participate. So feel free to sign up the family.  \nWe look forward to seeing you on November 1st! \n \nEvent Questions? Contact David Grayson

SUMMARY:Rethinking Home: Should You Stay or Should You Go?
DESCRIPTION:Rethinking Home: Should You Stay or Should You Go? \nWednesday\, November 4\, 2026 at 8 pm EST \nRegister Now \n \nThis webinar is open to all classes of the ’80s.\n \nWe’ve come a long way since the dorms and Collegetown apartments. After decades of choosing homes around careers\, commutes\, children\, schools\, or simply the demands of everyday life\, many of us now have an opportunity to rethink what we want from home. Does the home that worked for the life we built still work for the life we want now—and in the years ahead? \n\nJoin fellow Cornellians and real estate professionals Christine Hofstedt ’87 and Sondra WuDunn ’87 for a practical conversation about making informed housing decisions. They’ll explore how to evaluate whether staying or moving makes sense\, when the time might be right\, and what to consider in choosing where to live—along with real estate trends and market dynamics\, the tradeoffs involved in different housing choices\, preparing a home for a successful sale\, and the practical and emotional considerations that can accompany a transition. \n\nWhether a change is on the horizon or simply something you’re beginning to consider\, understanding your options now can help you make informed\, intentional choices about how and where you want to live. \n\n\n\n\n \n \n  \nChristine Hofstedt ’87\nChris brings more than 25 years of commercial real estate finance experience to her work as a real estate agent with Houlihan Lawrence. Her expertise in financial analysis and market trends helps clients navigate complex and rapidly changing real estate markets. \n\n\n\n \n \n  \nSondra WuDunn ’87\nSondra is a New York City–based real estate advisor with Brown Harris Stevens. A native New Yorker experienced in managing and renovating properties\, she combines deep local market knowledge with practical expertise to guide clients through real estate transactions. \n\n\n\n\nRegister Now
