Event Details

Date: Thursday, February 27,2025
Time: 2-4PM (MST)
Cost: Free (limited to 20 attendees)
Where: University of Arizona Main Library –
1510 E. University Blvd.

What: This presentation will look at the facsimile of one of the most glorious and puzzling of royal manuscripts, known as the Crusader Bible or Old Testament Picture Book. Most likely made in the 1240s for King Louis IX of France, later St. Louis. Scenes of battle, coronation, women’s roles, and other secular subjects create a lively visual narrative describing the events in the historical books of the Old Testament from Genesis to 2 Kings (2 Samuel).
