Provost Kavita Bala

Provost Kavita Bala enters 2025 as Cornell’s 17th provost. Since 2020, she was the inaugural Dean of Cornell’s Ann S. Bowers College of Computing and Information Science (CIS), shepherding its tremendous growth in participation, faculty, new facilities and financial support for the college.

Kavita Bala joined Cornell’s faculty in 2002, rising to chair the computer science department. A standout with award-winning research in computer recognition and graphics, she was selected as lead dean for the Cornell AI Initiative. Cornell has recognized her with three teaching awards.

CAAA honors Kavita Bala for her university leadership, achievements in scholarship, and success in fostering discovery and growth in Cornell’s computer science program.

About the Event
This event includes an authentic eleven-course banquet, open bar, hors d’oeuvres, and cultural performances. A portion of the ticket price goes toward funding the CAAA undergraduate scholarship program. The evening will also include a silent auction to benefit the Cornell Asian & Asian American Center.

Silent Auction:
The CAAA Pan Asian Banquet features a silent auction each year to raise funds for A3C and various Asian and Asian American student programs. Our virtual auction is open to all—both event guests and those unable to attend in person. Additionally, we have a limited selection of exclusive items available for bidding in person.

The silent auction virtual bidding page will go live in January. We’ll share a link via email and post it here once it’s ready so you can start bidding!
