But to have a chance at escaping the underworld, she has to help a master thief\u2014recently returned after decades in an Australian penal colony\u2014pull off one last, revenge-driven score.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOdden matches vivid details of the hard-knock life in Victorian London with complex backstories for her large cast,\u201d <em>Publishers Weekly<\/em> says in a starred review. \u201cReaders will be rapt.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A former English major on the Hill, Odden is a <em>USA Today<\/em> <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/karenodden.com\/\">bestselling author<\/a> whose previous work includes <em>Down a Dark River<\/em> and <em>Under a Veiled Moon<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-dots\" \/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide has-media-on-the-right is-stacked-on-mobile\"><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Freedom from Panic<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Bonnie Zucker \u201993<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The popular podcast <em><a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/podcasts.apple.com\/us\/podcast\/anxiety-matters\/id1787949420\">Anxiety Matters<\/a><\/em> is\u2014believe it or not\u2014hosted by two psychologists named Dr. Bonnie Zucker, each of whom specializes in the use of cognitive-behavioral therapy to treat anxiety. Now, one of them has penned a <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.newharbinger.com\/9781648487347\/freedom-from-panic\/?\">self-help book<\/a> on how to cope with panic attacks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The volume is subtitled <em>Evidence-Based Techniques to End Avoidance &amp; Stop Panic Before It Stops You<\/em>. I\u2019ve worked my dusty \/ shift within the shop of the divine, \/ trued the wheel and dressed the block until it \/ worked me doubletime. I haven\u2019t energy \/ to carve a roast. The kettle\u2019s on, fire \/ banked, my hammer\u2019s misplaced, apron gone.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-dots\" \/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide has-media-on-the-right is-stacked-on-mobile\"><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Between Fixed and Fickle<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Audun Dahl<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hup.harvard.edu\/books\/9780674292086\">scholarly volume<\/a> from Harvard University Press, the Cornell <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/psychology.cornell.edu\/audun-dahl\">psychology professor<\/a> ponders why and how our moral views change across various life stages, situations, and historical eras.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDahl describes a familiar pattern of thinking he calls the story of the \u2018fixed and fickle,\u2019\u201d says <em>Psychology Today<\/em>. \u201cFirst, we treat our own moral convictions as fixed and self-evident\u2014so obvious that no reasonable, well-meaning person could see things differently.
