Both the men’s and women’s championships were decided on the same weekend, with teams battling it out in Newman Arena<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the first time ever, Cornell hosted both the men’s and women’s Ivy League basketball championships<\/a> on the same weekend\u2014bringing a taste of March Madness to the Hill. And while the Big Red had only qualified for the men’s contest\u2014and ultimately didn’t take the title\u2014it was a fun and festive weekend in and around Newman Arena.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In all, seven members of the Ancient Eight (all but Dartmouth) were represented over the weekend: Cornell, Harvard, Penn, and Yale competed on the men’s side, while Brown, Columbia, Harvard, and Princeton vied for the women’s title.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sadly, the Big Red lost its semifinal game<\/a> to top-ranked Yale\u2014which itself fell to Penn 88-84 in the men’s championship matchup, which went into overtime. Princeton took the women’s title, defeating Harvard in the final 63-53.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
