A nuptial fashion superstar, Hayley Paige Gutman \u201907 created the dress seen by millions at Bad Bunny’s halftime show<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Music phenom Bad Bunny had numerous surprises in store for viewers of his hotly anticipated halftime show at Super Bowl LX: songs by Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin; cameo appearances by celebrities like Pedro Pascal and Jessica Alba; a mobile sugarcane field at the 50-yard line; performers atop utility poles evoking Puerto Rico’s fragile power grid; even a real-life wedding celebrated with joyous dancing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

But for Cornellians, here’s another suprise: not only were those nuptials legally binding, but the bridal gown was designed by a fellow alum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Human Ecology grad Hayley Paige Gutman \u201907<\/a>\u2014known professionally as Hayley Paige<\/a>\u2014is one of the top names in the wedding industry. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Renowned for designs that are both classically romantic and fashion-forward, she has appeared on the long-running TLC reality show \u201cSay Yes to the Dress\u201d and become a particular favorite of Millennial brides.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The gown featured at the Super Bowl is a convertible style named Becoming Jane<\/a>, in honor of Jane Austen. Made of ivory lace, tulle, and cashmere with a slit skirt, it can be worn various ways including strapless, with spaghetti straps, with a high-neck bolero top, or with off-the-shoulder long sleeves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The dress featured at the Super Bowl is a convertible style named Becoming Jane, in honor of Jane Austen.<\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

“This gown lets you change, reveal, and conceal as you wish,” Gutman says in the website description, “as if she were written to adapt to your story.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

So how did the dress wind up in one of the most-watched venues on the planet? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As Gutman explains, her sister\u2014who’s a producer\u2014connected her with a stylist friend who was looking for a wedding dress for a confidential Super Bowl project. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I sent a selection of gowns in different sizes, not knowing much beyond that,” she says. “As a designer, you never assume anything when a stylist pulls your work.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Learning that one of her dresses had been chosen\u2014and that it would appear in an actual wedding alongside Bad Bunny and company\u2014was “surreal.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I sent a selection of gowns in different sizes, not knowing much beyond that.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

“It was truly one of those pinch-me moments,” she says, adding: “Dressing women for one of the most meaningful moments of their lives has always been my version of the Super Bowl, so having that happen on the Super Bowl stage itself was incredibly special.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the show, Gutman shared a video<\/a> on her Instagram of herself at home\u2014with her bulldog, Winnie, snuggled on her lap\u2014watching the bride tie the knot in her design. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As she declared in a caption: “This is my favorite kind of win.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
