Raised in a NY farming family, the CALS alum is using social media to share her love of all things milk-related\u2014with style by the gallon<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mooove over, Champagne! When Hailey Pipher \u201919 raises a coupe glass\u2014or builds a festive, tiered tower of them for display on her website\u2014it\u2019s brimming with her favorite beverage: milk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The CALS alum, who grew up on a New York State dairy farm, is a social media influencer<\/a> who posts under the handle @shelikesmilk on TikTok<\/a> and Instagram<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

She boasts more than 330,000 followers across her platforms\u2014with upwards of 740,000 likes on TikTok alone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Working in the food, lifestyle, and wellness spaces, Pipher creates a variety of stylishly curated content\u2014including recipes, videos, and educational info about dairy farming and production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In her video series \u201cWhat Can\u2019t Milk Do?,\u201d for instance, she demonstrates how the staple can be used to create many other foods\u2014from ice cream and cheese to an easy-to-prepare caramel sauce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDairy is the one ingredient that shows up multiple times within a recipe, so I wanted to highlight that,\u201d says Pipher, who majored in agricultural science on the Hill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThen once I have people\u2019s attention, I can get them to care about the story behind it\u2014the rich agricultural history of our barns, businesses, and cows.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before becoming a full-time influencer, Pipher worked for global animal health and nutrition companies, launching her dairy-focused social accounts as a creative outlet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhen I started She Likes Milk, I had zero expectations,\u201d she admits. \u201cThen it started growing really fast, and I knew this was the right path for me.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pipher grew up on her family\u2019s 60-cow farm in Chemung County, NY, where she helped care for the animals and maintain the property.<\/p>\n<\/div>

She recalls sitting at the kitchen table each morning with her mom, dad (fellow CALS alum Thomas Pipher \u201986), and siblings to discuss what tasks needed to be done and how to approach any issues, like how an especially hot day would affect the cows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Says Pipher: \u201cMy parents did a really good job of involving me in the business side of the farm as a kid, and making it really fun.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2018\u201319, while still an undergrad, Pipher served as New York\u2019s Dairy Princess<\/a>\u2014spending her weekends promoting the industry at events around the state. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

(The program has since evolved into the gender-neutral \u201cDairy Ambassadors.\u201d)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As an influencer, Pipher\u2019s primary source of income is through brand partnerships, where she promotes products, companies, and organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She has worked with such familiar names as Williams-Sonoma, Nature\u2019s Own, Heinz, Hellmann\u2019s, Goya, and Talenti, as well as the American Dairy Association. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Milk and dairy are delicious, have great stories of being created by families, and are made locally. We have everything going for us, and I want to see us capitalize on that.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

She also benefits from a TikTok program that pays eligible influencers based on the number of views their videos generate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In creating content, Pipher aims to get people excited about consuming milk and other dairy products by making them fun and trendy\u2014while educating audiences about the industry and the farms where it all starts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among her most popular recipes: numerous variations on English muffins<\/a>\u2014from scallion-cheddar to Rocky Road\u2014many of which include dairy products like butter, milk, cheese, and buttermilk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI would love to continue to grow this,\u201d Pipher says of her social media career, \u201cand maybe one day, I\u2019ll be known as the Martha Stewart of milk.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(Servings: 6)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ingredients<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

3 c. all-purpose flour<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00bd c. granulated sugar<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1 tbsp. baking powder<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00bd tsp. salt<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1\u00bc c. whole milk<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1 egg<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1\u00bd tsp. vanilla<\/p>\n\n\n\n

12 tbsp. (\u00be cup, or 1\u00bd sticks) cold butter, grated or cut into small cubes<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the fruit topping:<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

1 c. sliced fresh strawberries, divided<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00bd c. chopped rhubarb<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2 tbsp. granulated sugar<\/p>\n<\/div>

Instructions<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Preheat oven to 400 \u00b0F. In a large mixing bowl, combine dry ingredients. Incorporate butter into dry mixture with your hands until it reaches a mealy texture. Create a well in the dry ingredients and set aside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a small mixing bowl or glass measuring cup, combine milk, egg, and vanilla and whisk until fully mixed. Pour wet ingredients into the well; stir until just combined and a very sticky dough forms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prepare fruit mixture by slicing half the strawberries (reserving the other half) and rough-chopping the rhubarb. Add to a medium bowl and sprinkle with sugar; toss to coat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Transfer batter to a 10\u201d skillet (or glass baking dish) and spread out evenly in the bottom. Top with strawberry-rhubarb mixture and press fruit into the batter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bake for 25\u201330 minutes until golden brown. Top with remaining sliced strawberries. Serve warm, with vanilla ice cream.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
