(The library roof is often made \u201csnowy\u201d via a layer of frosted-wheat cereal.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year, the club\u2019s talented culinary staff partnered with <em>Cornellians<\/em> to size down the creation into a freestanding McGraw Tower that you can easily make in a home kitchen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a very simple recipe,\u201d notes Joe Boko, executive chef at the Midtown Manhattan club. \u201cAll we do for building and stability purposes is add a little bit more flour than a regular gingerbread cookie recipe.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed alignwide Haidee Bowles, a line cook, lent a hand for baking, building, and decorating as part of this special project for <em>Cornellians<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAll you really want to do when you make a gingerbread house is have fun,\u201d says Bowles. \u201cAnd half the fun of making them is decorating them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And for an extra-special touch: add a pumpkin-shaped candy atop the roof to celebrate the famous McGraw Tower gourd!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote alignwide has-cornell-red-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-4577e056dff64cd08cf0a15322687496\"><blockquote><p>Step 1: Gather your equipment<\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019ll need: a mixer, a large bowl, a cookie sheet, plastic wrap, parchment paper (optional, for rolling out dough), a paring knife, an Exacto knife (optional, for more precise cuts), and a piping bag with tips.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(Note: While a stand mixer with its paddle attachment is ideal for this large amount of heavy dough, it&#8217;s not essential\u2014and if you don\u2019t have a piping bag, you can improvise by snipping a small corner piece off a plastic bag.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote href=\"https:\/\/alumni.cornell.edu\/cornellians\/download\/45059\/?tmstv=1733847529\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the two-page template<\/a> for the gingerbread pieces, then cut out the shapes. salt, and molasses. Add eggs in three stages until well incorporated, scraping down the bowl after each addition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Add flour and spices and mix well, again scraping down the bowl as you go. Remove dough and wrap well in plastic wrap before chilling for a minimum of four hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Roll dough out to about a quarter inch and cut out desired shapes.
