Later, the former CALS communication major rediscovered her love for the tasty treat while focusing on health and wellness after the birth of her daughter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhipped cream is a high-fat, low-sugar food that I could eat and stay within the guardrails of my diet,\u201d she recalls. \u201cBut I found that it got boring very quickly.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The solution: teaming up with her sister, former CALS food science major Tracy Luckow \u201999, to launch a line of flavored whipped creams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images href=\"https:\/\/news.cornell.edu\/stories\/2024\/04\/whipped-cream-disruptor-speak-entrepreneurship-celebration\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Cornell Chronicle<\/em><\/a>\u00a0in advance of the sisters\u2019 appearance at an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/eship.cornell.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Entrepreneurship at Cornell<\/a>\u00a0conference in spring 2024: \u201cPre-pandemic, we had seen all these baristas swirling flavors into coffees, and even in pancake restaurants they were putting flavored syrups into whipped cream. We thought, \u2018Wouldn\u2019t it be fun to bring some of that excitement and fun into grocery [aisles]?\u2019 It led us down a big rabbit hole of invention.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Their brand, called <a href=\"https:\/\/whipnotic.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Whipnotic<\/a>, comes in flavors such as brownie batter, strawberry, and peach mango. It\u2019s available on the company\u2019s website (where a four-pack is priced at $32) and in more than 1,000 stores in 35 states including ShopRite, Kroger, and Fresh Market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Plus, this fall, Whipnotic will debut two seasonal offerings: apple crisp and peppermint mocha. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote alignwide is-style-solid-color\"><blockquote><p>This fall, Whipnotic will debut two seasonal offerings: apple crisp and peppermint mocha.<\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The product, Gitomer and Luckow note, is keto-friendly and contains no high-fructose corn syrup; each two-tablespoon serving has 15 calories and one gram each of sugar and of carbohydrate. It\u2019s packaged in Rochester, NY, using cream from farms in North Carolina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The sisters even hold a patent on the special nozzle that tops the cans; it contains the flavors, which aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Gitomer and Luckow got some guidance on fine-tuning their product and its delivery system by returning to their Big Red roots: in fall 2020, they worked with experts from the <a href=\"https:\/\/cals.cornell.edu\/cornell-agritech\/partners-centers-institutes\/center-excellence-food-agriculture\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cornell Center of Excellence for Food and Agriculture<\/a>, located in nearby Geneva. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThey helped us to get more efficient and food safe,\u201d says Luckow, \u201cand they helped us to scale.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Around the brand\u2019s launch in 2022, the <em>Washington Post<\/em> gave it a shout-out in a story on food trends\u2014noting that it\u2019s \u201cpunching some nostalgia buttons\u201d as it \u201cpromises an upgraded version (no gums or artificial flavorings) of the stuff you frothed right into your mouth when your parents weren\u2019t href=\"https:\/\/www.foodnavigator-usa.com\/Article\/2024\/07\/01\/Whipnotic-wins-Naturally-New-York-Pitch-slam-Jack-Friends-earns-Audience-Choice-award\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Naturally New York Pitch Slam<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It took home a $150,000 prize package\u2014including a $25,000 monetary award and access to financial and industry advice. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(Another Cornellian-owned company, the vegan jerky brand <a href=\"https:\/\/alumni.cornell.edu\/cornellians\/kwong-jackfruit-jerky\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Jack &amp; Friends<\/a>, earned a $50,000 package at the same competition.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At Whipnotic, the sisters divide the responsibilities. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Luckow\u2014who has worked at major food companies including PepsiCo, Danone, and Sabra\u2014handles operations, production, and product development, while Gitomer heads up marketing, finance, and investor relations.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMy first phone-a-friend in life and work was always Tracy,\u201d Gitomer observes. \u201cIf there was ever an
