This book is jam-packed with easy, affordable, and healthful ideas for snack trays that make everyday eating feel like a celebration.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-dots\" \/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide has-media-on-the-right is-stacked-on-mobile\"><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Hero<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Thomas Perry \u201969<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/penzlerpublishers.com\/product\/hero\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">latest novel<\/a> from the prolific, bestselling <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thomasperryauthor.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">thriller author<\/a> centers on a woman working for a private security firm that caters to the rich and famous. Neither, seems; tragedy \/ reserved for kings.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-dots\" \/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide has-media-on-the-right is-stacked-on-mobile\"><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Unshrinking<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Kate Manne<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An <a href=\"https:\/\/philosophy.cornell.edu\/kate-manne\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">associate professor of philosophy<\/a> on the Hill, Manne previously penned two books on misogyny: <em>Entitled<\/em> and <em>Down Girl<\/em>. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.penguinrandomhouse.com\/books\/722318\/unshrinking-by-kate-manne\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Her latest volume<\/a>, subtitled <em>How to Face Fatphobia<\/em>, was hailed by the <em>Chicago Review of Books<\/em> as a \u201cbreathtaking work of meticulous research, philosophical rigor, and personal anecdote.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In it, Manne explores the deeply engrained societal prejudice against being overweight, and the many ways in which it\u2019s damaging\u2014while weaving in her own lifelong struggle to conform to conventional standards of thinness.<\/p>\n<\/div><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"500\" height=\"750\" src=\"https:\/\/alumni.cornell.edu\/cornellians\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/02\/unshrinking-A.jpg\" alt=\"The cover of &quot;Unshrinking&quot;\" class=\"wp-image-32211 size-full\" srcset=\"https:\/\/alumni.cornell.edu\/cornellians\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/02\/unshrinking-A.jpg 500w, https:\/\/alumni.cornell.edu\/cornellians\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/02\/unshrinking-A-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/alumni.cornell.edu\/cornellians\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/02\/unshrinking-A-263x395.jpg 263w, https:\/\/alumni.cornell.edu\/cornellians\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/02\/unshrinking-A-333x500.jpg 333w, https:\/\/alumni.cornell.edu\/cornellians\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/02\/unshrinking-A-167x250.jpg 167w, https:\/\/alumni.cornell.edu\/cornellians\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/02\/unshrinking-A-83x125.jpg 83w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe straitjacket of fatphobia is a source of pressure and discomfort for most, if not all, of us,\u201d she writes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBut it makes life even harder when our bodies do not fit within certain rigid confines, which some bodies\u2014including mine\u2014will always strain against and spill over. And much like a straitjacket, fatphobia serves as a powerful social marker: it signals that some bodies should be ignored, disregarded, and mistreated. Likewise, logic and game theory can help train our minds, so that when there\u2019s something we need, we can get it more effectively.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-dots\" \/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide has-media-on-the-right is-stacked-on-mobile\"><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ugly White People<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Stephanie Li, MFA \u201904, PhD \u201905<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.upress.umn.edu\/book-division\/books\/ugly-white-people\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">scholarly book<\/a> accessible to general readers, Li explores the work of such authors as Dave Eggers and J.D.
