Calling all 2020 grads!

An in-person commencement ceremony will be held for the Class of 2020 and their families on Sunday, September 19, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. in Schoellkopf. If you identify as a 2020 grad (including December 2019 graduates, and all 2020 undergraduates, graduate students, and professional school students), we are thrilled to welcome you back to campus and celebrate with you!

While we are still working through the logistics, we plan to make this ceremony as traditional as possible while also being conscious of any remaining COVID-19 protocols and special considerations that arise from holding this ceremony over Homecoming weekend. We’ll loop you in once we have more information about what to expect for this ceremony and how to register. Get ready! 🎓

Here’s what we do know: 2020 graduates will be able to process into the stadium and wear their commemorative cap and gown if they opted to receive one last spring. (If you didn’t get one, don’t worry: we’ll have additional information about purchasing caps and gowns soon.)

Celebrate at Homecoming

Ultimately, this celebration is for you! We encourage you to wear whatever makes you feel amazing, accomplished, and social media ready. 😎 We encourage you to take all the classic graduation pictures you want. 📸 And we encourage you to have fun and make new Cornell memories during Homecoming weekend. 🐻

For details about Homecoming weekend programming, lodging, COVID-19 protocols, and more as it becomes available, visit the Homecoming page. We can’t wait to party with you in Ithaca!

(We’ll still see you this weekend, though.)

We know 2020 graduates are all over the world by now, so we are hosting our Virtual Celebration on June 13 to make sure that everyone can celebrate regardless of whether they can return to campus. During our Virtual Celebration, President Pollack will confer degrees, deans will give well-wishes, and notable Cornellians will cheer you on! We encourage all graduates to tune in virtually as most program elements will not be duplicated in-person. Check out the downloadable 2020 Commencement program here.
